From Marcin:

************

Is it possible to verify status of LACP on aggregated links using VC CLI;

Info from Hiro:

**************

I think you can use "show uplinkset" command to check LACP status.

There is a great document that explains a lot of command.

Hope this helps.

Reply from Robert:

You can also use:

-> show uplinkport *

Verify the uplink ports that are supposed to be in the same LACP channel have the same LAG ID.

Virtual Connect Manager NIC Mapping

I have a c7000 enclosure witn 8 x BL460c Gen8 blades, 2 VC Flex 10/10D in interconnect slots 1 & 2 and 4 x 6120XG blade switches in interconnect slots 3-6.

I want to create 4 virtual NIC's under the VC fabric adapters and present to each of my blades. In Virtual Connect Manager I can create my domain, networks etc but when I create a server profile and add the networks it maps network 3 and above on the list to the mezz 3 & 4 cards. I want these to be VC NIC's, what am I doing wrong? See screen shot attached, I want to make the mappings highlighted in red Flex Nics on Lom 1 b and Lom 2 b

We have 10 c7000 chassis in 3 different locations.  all of a sudden we cannot use virtual connect manager on any of them that have a 4gbFC virtual connect modules.  Basically when you logon half the screen draws and you get an error, loading libraries" that eventually times out. This does not happen on our chassis with with FlexFabric.

We are thinking this is client related, but we ahve tried various versions of OS (xp, win 7)(flash 11, 14) and java (1.4, 5.0, 6.22) (ie 8,9,10)and none seem to help.

Has anyone else experienced this and can help provide a solution. we are stuck with only able to manage via cli.

Solved this by accident....

It adds the mezz cards in lines 3-6 then the rest of the flex adapters from 7 onwards. Working as expected now

Document ID: c04677033
Version: 1
Advisory: HP Virtual Connect - Any VC Domain Running VC Firmware Versions 3.30 through 4.01 May Not Properly Load the Virtual Connect Manager (VCM) Web User Interface After 5 May 2015
NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.
Release Date: 2015-05-08
Last Updated: 2015-05-08
DESCRIPTION
Any Virtual Connect domain running VC Firmware Version 3.30 through 4.01 may no longer load the Virtual Connect Manager (VCM) Web User Interface (UI) properly. Virtual Connect Firmware Version 4.10 (or later) does not exhibit this issue. In addition, all versions of the VCM Command-Line Interface (CLI) function properly. The VCM Command-Line Interface is NOTaffected by this issue.

IMPORTANT : This is a management issue only. NO traffic outage of any type occurs as a result of this issue.

The initial indication of the problem is exhibited after logging into VCM and being directed to the homepage. The left frame will be blank or will stop responding on "Loading Libraries". When navigating to other pages, the center frame may also be blank or stop responding.

This issue will occur because the Virtual Connect Web UI requires the use of Adobe Flash Player and the digitally signed files used by Adobe Flash Player expired on 5 May 2015. After this date, any VC Web UI flash components will not load due to the expiration of the digitally signed files.

SCOPE
Any Virtual Connect (VC) domain configured with the following Virtual Connect Modules and running VC firmware versions 3.30 through 4.01:

HP 1/10Gb Virtual Connect Ethernet Module for c-Class BladeSystem
HP Virtual Connect 1/10Gb-F Ethernet Module for c-Class BladeSystem
HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 10Gb Ethernet Module for c-Class BladeSystem
HP Virtual Connect Flex-10/10D Module for c-Class BladeSystem
HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb/24-port Module for c-Class BladeSystem
RESOLUTION
As a workaround, perform the actions described below to restore the ability for a client system to use the VCM Web UI on affected VC firmware versions. This workaround addresses the issue on a single client system and is specific to each user; therefore, if there are multiple client systems or multiple users, the workaround must be performed for each instance.

IMPORTANT: HP is currently developing an efficient solution to this issue and this advisory will be updated in the near future to provide a simpler set of download and file naming changes. The following workaround is being provided as an interim solution for customers who need to make immediate changes.

Set the clock on your computer to May 5 (the Adobe Flash Cert issues started May 6)... Exit your IE, go back in, and it will work.

Leap Second Bug | Impact ?!

Hello All,

Maybe you are all aware of the upcoming Leap Second Bug which is approaching on 30th June 2015.

The question here is that I dont see any notification/advisory in regards to this bug and corresponding Flex10 modules.

I did located an advisory pertaining to Blade servers, but nothing for the switch/chassis.

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04604766

Meanwhile, Cisco has released a firmware patch for selected Firmware versions -

https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCus83447/?referring_site=bugquickviewclick

I was searching if HP has a similar firmware/workaround or notification related to Leap Second Bug impact on Flex10 modules ?

Upgrade VCEM from 7.22 to 7.4.1 - firmware chicken or the egg?

$

Greetings,

I'm planning the upgrade to 7.4.1. This will be my first upgrade of VCEM. I have two c7000 enclosures managed by VCEM 7.2.2.  My enclosure firmware level's are the following:

OA: 4.2.1

VCM: 4.10

Gen8 iLO: oldest is 1.5.1

I've been doing some RTFM'ing of HP docs and lots of firmware matrixes. The SIM/VCEM v7.4 installer seems to indicate that a minimum firmware level needs to exist on your modules prior to upgrading VCEM.  I was of the mindset that I needed to get VCEM upgraded THEN do my firmware updates.

Anybody know that proper order of events?

Thanks for any "insight".

Ron

This answers the chicken or egg question.

If Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM) is in use, it must be at a revision that is compatible with the target VC firmware version prior to the VC firmware upgrade attempt. For the correct VCEM version, refer to the Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager Support section of this document.
