hi,

Query is not clear, did you created profiles and add the new created SUS , if you create new SUS with the uplinks it will be in standby mode untill you add & assign in at least in one profile.

if profile is added and still u see uplinks in standby log a ticket with VC show all * and with support dump with HPE support team.

regards

Sorry,  I still have another corresponding question !

Why the NPIVs do not failover,  but only the PWWNs do when the fc link is broken-down ?

Hello,

It is expected that Physical PWWN failover when a FC link failure.

NPIVs are vitual ports of the physical  ports.

So whenever a FC - link failure, The actual physical PWWNs is getting failvered to other connections along with the NPIVs.

Again, for more clarification, it is advisable to log a support case.

Connection to Aruba 2920 Stacking Switches

We have 2 HPE Flex 10/10D Module in C7000 and Bay 1 X1 is connected to Stack SW1, Bay X2 is connected to Stack SW2.

We have 2 uplink sets using these exit ports and I enabled smart link.

In switch side, there is trunk lacp defined for these two ports connected to two flex modules.

My problem is that when I reboot the swtich connected to Active Flex module, I lost connection for more than 30 seconds. When switch is up but not 100% ready, Virtual Connect see that port as Linked and making it Linked Active again, it failed.

How should be the configuration? (is there a way to configure VC not to take over Active as soon as link is up) Could you please help?

Thanks a lot in advance

Virtual Connect Simulator for Channel Partners

Hi,

I located what appears to be a recent version of HPE Virtual connect simulator on the HPE partner portal. Sadly the credentials provided in the article refer to an old URL un ftp.hp.com address which i am guessing is long defunct. Can anyone advise where I can find a recent version of the tool?

thanks.

Ad.

Hi Adam

just found this

"If you are a partner, please ask your HPE contacts.
AFAIK the software is not public"

I'm aware it's not public. I work for a channel partner which means we have access to some internal HPE stuff. I'd located the aforementioned simulator on the channel partner website but could not download it as the provided information appeared to be out-dated. Hoping someone could provide more up to date information hence the post on here.

thanks

Re: How to remove 1 port in Virtual Connect Synergy 1

Hello,

Ok. You have 2 uplink ports from each ICM (ICM 3 and ICM 6) with Active-Active with LACP on core switch.

To change the uplink config from 2 port to 1 port from each ICM, you need to edit the uplink set on the Logical Interconnect Group (LIG).

Oneview --> Logical Interconnect Group --> Choose the Network LIG--> Edit --> Edit the "Uplink set"--> remove the uplink port which you wanted to remove --> Then click ok.
Once LIG is updated, you would need to perform Update from Group on the Logical Enclosure "Action " menu.

This would apply the configuration to VC module to use the single ports from both ICMs.

Once done, you need to update the LACP config on the core switch accordingly.

Ideally this should not cause any impact, however perform the changes during maintenance window.

Hope this helps..

Virtual Connect Flexfabric 10/24 not passing VLANs

Morning,  I have a C7000 chassis with a VC 10/24 flexfabric module(this module allow FC and SAN connections) that is not passing all of the VLANs to a BL460c / G9 with ESXi installed.

I am using a cisco 7k switch and the ports are trunked.  Not errors.

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Virtual Connect Latency to EMC SAN

We've been having high disk latency between C7000 Blade enclosures hosting BL460c to EMC SAN using hardware iSCSI within Virtual Connect on VMware ESXi.  This appears to be an issue on 6.0, 6.5, and 6.7 so we've eliminated VMware as the problem.  Latency goes away between DL360 and EMC, seems isolated to CClass using Virtual Connect.  Wondering if anyone has seen this or has ideas how to fix it?

OA and VC Communication Issue

We have been running c7000 with different version of VC with single OA for 10+ years. Access to OA and other hardware components thru it has not seen so time critical that we would start using double OA configuration. Also with one OA we have not had any configuration sync problems you might have with two OAs. Having only one OA has not seen any big problem from HPE side on discussions we have had.

We have quite big installation base and therefore we do have spare parts in our premises for almost every component we run. Replacing broken OA has never been problem. It´s easily done from internal spare parts before getting new one from HPE support. Then we have restored OA configuration and re-created OA and VC connectivity.

During last six month we have started facing strange behavior when OA is broken and replaced. After restoring OA configuration VC will ask normally credentials to re-create OA-VC connection. Everything looks normal on VCM side. On OA there is exclamation mark on top on each blade telling that server is not configured for Virtual Connect.

At the first time we had this issue we thought that OA and VC connectivity is not working well and we did reset for OA which did not change situation at all. Then we did reset for VCM. It did go to normal tree of red icons when you do reset of VCM but this time it did not recover in ~15 minutes it usually does. It did not recover at all!

At this stage we open up support case to HPE. After going thru logs they answered that we do have only one OA and therefore connection was lost between components. Only way to recover from this situation would be Power off all blades & interconnect modules (FF) and then remove OA and it´s sleeve. Then place everything back and start again. We did this and problem was solved.

This would be fine if it would be one time problem needed to solved like this. But now it seems that every time we have broken OA we end up on same situation. As said we have run our environment for 10+ years and replaced OA module quite many time without this kind of problems. Firmware version in these problematic cases has been OA 4.40-4.60 and VC 4.45-4.50.

Is there some bug we and support are not aware?

Or has something changed in way components communicate?

Answers we get from HPE support is that this is normal behavior with one OA and you need reseat all components in enclosure after replacing OA. I haven´t seen any document stating that this is way it should work.

I cannot see any good reason why not running in a dual OA configuration.

Thanks for reply! Question was not would it work or not in dual OA configuration! It´s more about if we have run big environment of c7000s with one OA for over 10 years without problems why there´s this kind of problems now. It would not make sense to start bying second OA for all the enclosures were currently running.

Hello There,

There is no detailed information provided, we need to understand the tpology of your enveiorment.

We also need to understand where the packet lost is hapenning.
Since there are multiple technology involved and no staright forward answer to your query hence would suggest to log a support ticket on a valid s/n to investigate the issue further.
